The Rabbit Heals

Just Who is The Healing Rabbit?

The Healing Rabbit is the persona of Mark Andres. Mark has been using the I Ching (also known as Yijing or Book of Changes) for divination since he was 16. Mark has a B.A. and an M.A. in Asian Studies from the University of Arizona. Having studied the I Ching and other Taoist texts as a teenager, Mark spent years studying Asian philosophy. Even after abandoning Asian philosophy to start a career in information technology, he continued to use the I Ching as a amateur diviner using the Yi Jing for himself, family, and friends for over 25 years. Mark recently decided to "turn pro" and offer his divination skills to the world. In addition, he is also a certified Feng Shui Practitioner, Reiki Practitioner, and a member of the Taoist Tai Chi Society. He is fluent in Japanese and can read classical Chinese.

Divination - After prodding from his family and friends, he recently decided to try doing divination professionally. To that end, he began studying with Master Joseph Yu, founder of the Feng Shui Research Institute and author of the Complete Idiot's Guide to the I Ching. Mark is learning secret I Ching divination methods with Master Yu not described in Western books. Having mastered the foundations of Plum Blossom divination, Mark continues to research new ways of applying traditional Plum Blossom divination to modern-day life. In addition, he learned the more advanced Wen Wang Gua divination methods under Master Yu. Recently, Master Yu designated Mark a FSRC Lecturer allowing teach the Plum Blossom Divination class as part of the FSRC curriculum.

Traditional Feng Shui - Mark is a certified Feng Shui Practitioner through the Feng Shui Research Institute having passed Master Yu's rigorous standards in Xuan Kong (Flying Stars) Feng Shui. This is a traditional Feng Shui system that comes directly from Chinese masters. Differing greatly from "Black Sect" feng shui or Life Aspirations feng shui, classical Chinese Feng Shui is based on mathematics, physics, and logic. The goals of classical Feng Shui include improving the health and well-being of those in a building as well as increasing wealth.

Jikiden Reiki - Mark is currently an Okuden (level 2) practitioner in Jikiden Reiki and a Reiki Master/Teacher practitioner in western Usui Reiki. As such, he is qualified to provide Reiki treatments. The Rabbit continues to study Jikiden Reiki under Tadao Yamaguchi in Japan and western Usui Reiki under Dave Scarbrough, a master/teacher in Columbus. Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a common form of treatment throughout the world which enhances the body's natural ability to heal itself. It is a holistic, natural, hands-on energy healing system that touches on all levels: body, mind, and spirit.

Mark uses The Healing Rabbit persona, because he was born in the Chinese year of the Rabbit and month of the Rabbit(Mao year and month). However, it goes beyond that. Mark has always had an affinity for the moon, especially a full moon. The darker part of the moon looks like a rabbit and myths about this developed in several cultures.

Japanese Rabbit in the Moon To the Japanese, the image is of a rabbit pounding sticky rice in a mortar to make rice cakes. The Chinese have a story about the rabbit trying to create the elixir of immortality. From India to Japan, there is a story about how a deity (Indra, Buddha, Lord of Heaven, etc.) disguised himself as an old beggar. He came upon a monkey, a fox, and a rabbit. He said he was starving and asked them for something to eat. The monkey and fox were able to find some tidbits for the old man to eat, but the rabbit could not find any. So he started a fire and cooked himself for the old man to eat. The old man returns to his original form and puts the rabbit in the moon for all eternity as a reward for his selflessness.
The Mayans also saw the dark shades of the moon as representing a rabbit god. This rabbit god is often depicted in an embrace with the moon goddess seen as the brighter part of the moon. According to Aztec myth, the rabbit in the moon was put there to extinguish a second, rival sun. The Mayan Rabbit God
